The war in Ukraine as a turning point in global security and engagement of global actors
Abstract
The war in Ukraine has been a turning point for global security. If Russia manages to win in Ukraine, it will pose serious risks and challenges to America, Europe, and the entire West in the coming decades. It will have a spillover effect. That is why the West must pay a high price to help Ukraine avoid devastating consequences in the long term, no matter how challenging the steps taken by the West against Russia may be. The reality is that countries in the Middle East, Africa and Asia will not be able to completely isolate themselves from Russia, and the West sees clearly that these sanctions may not be very destructive towards Russia in the short term. However, in the long term, sanctions will deter Russian aggression.
