Abstract

The paper describes certain elements of Ronald Reagans administration policy in the Middle East. It reflects fruitful and, at the same time, complicated cooperation with Israel, also Reagan’s cooperation with Saudi Arabia in fields of security and oil prices. The final result was dramatic fall of oil prices which influenced the oil export of the Soviet Union which so desperately needed foreign currency to acquire new technologies to successfully compete in the arms industry.
